Get Involved with Animal Rescuing

I know everyone has a passion for something whether its something that they are interested in learning more about or something that they hold dear to their heart. Most people probably have more than one passion, I know that I am passionate about a few select things. However there is something that I am extremely passionate about, to the point where people have told me I'm crazy. The truth is, I don't care if people think I'm crazy because I know I am not alone. My true passion is animals, which is something that so many people are passionate about. If you own a pet, chances are that you love your pet and would do almost anything for them.
Wanting to help rescue animals is something I know I get from my family. Every Saturday my mother used to go to Petsmart and help with the adoption process, because Saturdays are the biggest day for animal adoption according to the people who work with Wag, which is an animal adoption agency that works out of Wyandotte, Michigan. Even if you are not in the Wyandotte area, you can still volunteer with them or donate. They work with a lot of the Petsmart stores in the metro Detroit area, and that's how my mom got involved with them.
One day, my mom went to Petsmart to buy dog food and decided to just look at the cat cages. When she walked in, one of the cats that grabbed her with it's claw as she walked by. Obviously the cat stole her attention and my mom began to pet and fuss over the cat. A few days passed and my mom was still thinking about the cat so she made a phone call to Wag, and discovered that this cat was found in a dumpster in Wyandotte and was found with it's sibling, another cat that was from the same litter. The two cats were found together in a dumpster, skin and bones. The organization Wags took the cats in and fixed them and provided them with proper medial treatments from a veterinarian.
My mother, having a soft spot in her heart for animals had to adopt them both because she could not separate these two cats that have been together since the day they were born. Today, the two cats are still inseparable and are now nine years old. Along with those two cats, we have another cat and dog both adopted from the Wags organization.
Something that I urge everyone to do or get involved with is animal rescue. I know not everyone loves animals, however if it is something that are are interested, get involved! Their are hundreds of organization for almost every kind of animal that is desperately in need of some type of donations. If you don't have any money to spare, you can also get involved with volunteering. Any amount of help that these animal rescue organizations receive is greatly appreciated.
The organization Wags, that my family was mostly involved in can be found on twitter, https://twitter.com/WAG_Rescue Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/pages/WAG-Animal-Rescue/125469553530?ref=nf and they have their website for additional information http://www.waganimalrescue.com/

If you are an animal lover, I highly suggest that you look at their Twitter, Facebook, and website for more information and different ways you can get involved if this is something you have a passion for.
However, here are some links to other animal rescue organizations that you can get involved in if you have a passion for animals.

White House Officials are coming to Detroit Friday!

As many of you are aware, The city of Detroit filed for chapter 9 bankruptcy on July 19, 2013. This Friday, White House officials are coming to Detroit to help the city. However they are not going to bail out the city. The White House official's plan is to look at the city from all angles, they want to meet with city hall and Mayor, Dave Bing, while also meeting with the community of Detroit. They want to brainstorm ideas in order to help the city. Obama's team has made it very clear that they are not going to meet with the city's emergency manager, Kevin Orr. Instead they want to meet with other leaders of the community. A major concern for the White House officials is the safety of others in  the city of Detroit. Detroit is known for it's high crime rates. The Obama's team wants to personally meet with police chief James Craig especially to brainstorm ideas and ways to help Detroit become a safer city. It was stated that crime is a huge concern with the city. If people don't feel safe, businesses and people won't come to the city.

I personally agree completely with that. I think that safety is a huge part of why the city is not doing well. People and businesses keep leaving the city, and with that, abandoned buildings are on the rise, which continues the crime rates to soar. In my opinion, I think the first step of reshaping the city of Detroit is to focus primarily on keeping the city's crime rate down and improving their statistics, along with that, I think the city should continue it's progress of bulldozing abandoned buildings and houses. If you drive down some of the neighborhoods in the Detroit, many of the abandoned houses and signs on them stating that they are on the list to get bulldozed. So Detroit is in the process of doing that, it just has been taking some time. I think that once Detroit becomes a safer city, which will take quite a lot of time, businesses and people will come back to the city, giving it revenue. What is your opinion on the city of Detroit? Do you think Obama's team will be able to brainstorm some ideas for the city?

"Hiccuping Girl Faces Murder Charge" -Huffington Post

Today, Sep. 19, 2013 the Huffington Post tweeted the story about Jennifer Mee, who was formally know for her hiccups. When Mee was fifteen she developed the case hiccups that did not go away, which gave her local and national fame according to the Huffington Post. She was even seen on the Today and other daytime shows. However, recently she has gotten herself into some serious trouble. The Huffington Post reported saying that Mee lured a man into an abandoned home in order to buy marijuana from him. When the man got inside the house, Mee's friends robbed him at gunpoint, and when he struggled, her friends shot him four times. This all happened back in October of 2010, however now is when all of those teens are facing their inditement.

When I was scrolling through my Twitter timeline and came across this article, I was stunned. I honestly never knew that the hiccup girl was involved which such a horrible crime. I always heard of her as the hiccuping girl. However, an article like this just shows you that even when people do have fame, no matter how much, they can still get sucked into a life of crime that will have them ending up in jail for the majority of their lives. I'm not saying that Mee was a celebrity because she had the hiccups, but she was definitely someone who people have heard of. It's a shame that she took the wrong path and ended up in a situation such as this.

Articles like this also make me wonder, was she someone who always had a crime like this in her, or did she just end up with the wrong crowd of people? If you read the article more closely, the author explains how according to Mee's friends, the one's whose did the physical murder, they said that this was all her idea and that she was the one who knew the man. However, these teens could of just been saying this in order to make their actions not sound as bad. Either way, it makes me wonder what really did happen and whose idea it really was? Like I stated previously, articles like this make me wonder what type of people do crimes such as this. Are drugs to blame? She was luring the man into the house in order to buy marijuana from him. Or was that just an act in order to get in into the house where no one would be able see them? What do you think?

I personally love following the Huffington Post, they always post news article that are both breaking news and interesting/random news. So if you love hearing about all types of news, I would highly suggest following them.

Cider Mill

Yesterday I went to the Uncle John's Cider Mill in St. Johns. It was the perfect day to go because the weather was just right. We walked through the pumpkin patch and apple orchards while enjoying some apple cider and donuts. My friends and I also explored the corn mazes as well. My favorite part of being at the cider mill was all the pictures I took. I got so many good pictures that look exactly like a perfect fall day. Here is one of the pictures I took.
